Funded Schemes - Street Scape Enhancement Scheme - The Future For The Scheme The Future For The SchemeFinance for the Tregaron Heritage Scheme is due to finish in March 2008. Before that time a number of properties are due to be restored and a number of events will be held in the town. 1. Grants are to be paid for a number of restoration schemes to business properties, domestic properties and public buildings/facilities. Limited funds remain so please contact the project officer as soon as possible if you are interested. 2. Following the demise of Curiad Caron, the arrangement for the provision of visitor events has passed to the Tregaron Tourism Company, set up primarily from members of the Racing and Ffair Garon Committees. During 2007 it is proposed to run two races – one in February on Cors Caron and the other in May, Ras y Ddau Sant (the two saints race) run between the churches of Tregaron (Saint Caron) and Llanddewi Brefi (Saint Dewi). On the last Bank Holiday of May Ffair Garon will be held. Ffair Garon, which was originally held in March in the 13th century, was a great social event as well as being a horse and traditional crafts fair. 3. Two training courses on traditional building techniques have already been run in the town, under the sponsorship of the Heritage Scheme – one on the use of lime in building work and the other on the use of stone in building work. It is proposed to run another course in spring / summer 2007 on the traditional joinery techniques associated with old buildings. 4. Although not directly linked to the Heritage Scheme, it is very welcomed that the County Council have been successful in a bid for finance under the Assembly run Physical Regeneration Fund. The scheme involves the conversion of the former agricultural buildings referred to as Talbot Yard, the development of a bus/coach depot and the extension of the public car park to provide much needed parking facilities in close proximity to the town centre. 5. Anyone interested in taking a bigger part in the Heritage Scheme is invited to join the Consultative and Monitoring Board which is held on a 2 monthly cycle. The Board members have a keen interest in conservation in general and in the conservation of Tregaron specifically. The Scheme is financed by the following :-
